Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Ternarix collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website, Chrome extension, mobile applications, and related services ("Ternarix").
1. Information We Collect
a) Information You Provide Directly
- Account information (email address, password).
- Words you save to your library and custom ternary code mappings. This data is stored on our servers and tied to your account to enable cross-device syncing.
- Communications with us (support requests or feedback).
- Payment and billing information when you subscribe to a paid plan. We do not store your full credit card number. Payments are processed securely by third-party providers (see Section 3).
b) Information Collected Automatically
- Word frequency and usage data (which words are replaced, how often). This data is linked to your account to enable cross-device syncing and personalized learning progress.
- Reading session statistics (total words on page, coverage rate). We do not collect or store the URLs of pages you visit.
c) Chrome Extension Data
The Ternarix Chrome extension replaces your saved words with ternary symbols as you browse. To do this, the extension injects a content script on all web pages you visit (except ternarix.com). All word detection and replacement happens locally in your browser; no page content is sent to our servers.
The extension requests the following browser permissions:
- All URLs (content script): The extension needs access to all web pages so it can find and replace your saved words with ternary symbols wherever you browse. The extension does not read or transmit page content; it only scans for words that match your saved library.
- Storage: Used to save your word library, preferences, and settings. Data stored via
chrome.storage.syncsyncs across devices where you are signed into Chrome. Authentication tokens and cached data are stored locally on your device viachrome.storage.localand are not synced. - Identity: Used to enable Sign in with Google. This permission allows the extension to initiate Google's OAuth authentication flow. See Section 3 for details on data shared with Google during sign-in.
- Side Panel: Provides the library management interface where you can view, search, and manage your saved words.
Your word library syncs to Ternarix servers for cross-device access. Uninstalling the extension removes local data from your browser; your account and library remain on our servers and can be accessed by reinstalling or using the website. You can delete your account data entirely from the Account page on the website.
d) Mobile Application Data
The Ternarix mobile app includes an in-app browser that replaces saved words with ternary symbols as you browse. The app does not collect or store the URLs of pages you visit or the content of those pages. If you purchase a subscription or make in-app purchases, transaction data is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) and their respective payment processors.
2. How We Use Information
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties.
We use your information to:
- Deliver Ternarix features and services.
- Sync your word library, reading statistics, and settings across devices.
- Maintain and improve performance, reliability, and security.
- Personalize your experience and suggest relevant content.
- Respond to your requests and communicate with you.
- Analyze aggregate usage to improve Ternarix.
The Ternarix Chrome extension uses Chrome platform APIs (chrome.storage, identity, sidePanel, and content script access to web pages) solely to provide its core word-replacement and library-management functionality. Data from these APIs is not sold to third parties or used for purposes unrelated to Ternarix's core features.
The use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

During this process, Google receives confirmation that you are signing into Ternarix. We receive only your name and email address from Google to create or access your account. Google's use of your information is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Email and password login is also available as an alternative.
We may publish aggregated, anonymized data (e.g., usage trends).
